DNA Transportation
It’s already the 8th week of the quarter! O.o
So research…
I attended the COMSOL Workshop last week and that was pretty helpful in regards to learning the new software. The new version of COMSOL seems a lot more user friendly than the older version, which is why I plan on using only the new version for all my research purposes. I’m still working on getting to know the program…slowly but surely.
Luke has given me a specific problem to work on so I can get more familiar with the program. I am to model a membrane which separates a rectangular box into two compartments. The membrane contains a hole in the center to allow for fluid to mix as fluid is added to both compartments. The goal is to find the current and voltage across the two compartments; we will see the relationship between the two. This will be a model for the transportation of DNA; DNA will pass through the hole (the diameter will be on the nanoscale) in the membrane.
Physics is currently kicking my butt. I have a history paper due this Friday. Statics homework confuses me.
I dropped my phone two separate time while biking today. Not fun. >.<
SACNAS General Body Meeting #4 this Tuesday, November, 16th at 6:30PM. We will have a guest speaker from the Kavli Institute of Theoretical Physics talking about quantum computing!
The SACNAS-LI-NSBE Holiday Dinner is this Saturday, November 20,2010 at 6PM! (:
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
